Frequently asked questions
What installers, safety officers and distributors ask us about Tecton Safety anchors
Product and standards
What is an EN 795 Type A anchor point?
It is a fixed anchor device, permanently installed in the structure, to which the worker connects their fall arrest equipment (harness, energy absorber and connector). EN 795:2012 requires it to withstand at least 12 kN of static load and a dynamic drop test. Tecton Safety's PA-10 and PAD-20 anchors pass these tests and hold a certificate of conformity from a notified body.
How many people can connect to a Tecton anchor?
The PA-10 allows up to 3 simultaneous users (EN 795 Type A + CEN/TS 16415). The PAD-20, with energy absorption, is designed for 1 user. The maximum number is engraved on every part.
What is the difference between the PA-10 and the PAD-20?
The PA-10 is a rigid anchor that transmits the full force of the fall to the structure, so it needs a substrate able to withstand more than 15 kN. The PAD-20 has an energy-absorbing system that converts the force of the fall into controlled deformation of the material, reducing the peak load on the user and on the fixing. After arresting a fall, either of them must be withdrawn from service.
What are they made of?
AISI 304 2B stainless steel plate, 5 mm (anchors) and 3 to 8 mm (mounting bases), laser cut, bent, vibratory finished and laser marked in Spain. Corrosion resistance is high, suitable for industrial and marine environments.
Are they CE marked and certified?
Yes. PA-10 and PAD-20 are certified to EN 795:2012 (and CEN/TS 16415:2013 for the PA-10) by Quintin Certifications, a COFRAC-accredited body. The certificate of conformity, data sheet and manual can be downloaded from each product page. Every unit is engraved with the reference, standard, number of users, date and serial number.
Installation
On which substrates can I install a Tecton anchor?
Directly on non-cracked reinforced concrete (minimum grade C30/35) with an M12 anchor, and on steel structures of at least 6 mm with an M12 through bolt. For other substrates we use specific bases: SDM-10 for brick walls, SDC-65 for profiled sheet and sandwich panel roofs (riveted, without accessing the structure) and SDT-100 for clay tile roofs with a concrete slab. See the installation instructions.
Can I install an anchor on a tiled roof without lifting tiles?
Yes. The SDT-100 base rests on the tiles and is fixed to the slab with 3 M12 chemical anchors with deep mesh sleeves (at least 120 mm into the slab), without removing the roof covering or affecting its waterproofing. It is the recommended system for solar panel installers on houses.
How strong must the fixing be?
The complete fixing (anchor or bolt plus base) must withstand more than 15 kN. We recommend verifying it with a pull-out test before commissioning and respecting the tightening torques: 35 Nm for the PA-10 with an M12 A2-70 bolt and 20 Nm for the PAD-20 with a lock nut.
Who can install and inspect the anchors?
Only competent persons trained in work at height. Installation must follow the corresponding mounting drawing and the instruction manual. A visual inspection before each use and a periodic inspection, at least annually, by a qualified technician are mandatory.
What is the service life of an anchor?
Up to 25 years from the manufacturing date engraved on the part, provided it passes the periodic inspections. It must be withdrawn immediately after any visible damage, corrosion, deformation or after arresting a fall.
Ordering and shipping
How long does shipping take?
We keep permanent stock in our Spanish warehouse. Orders to mainland Spain are dispatched within 24-48 working hours of payment confirmation, with tracking. Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla and the rest of the EU: check times and costs at checkout or write to us.
Do you offer prices for installers and distributors?
Yes. We have price lists for distributors and for professionals (installers, maintenance companies). Request your account on the B2B · Distributors and professionals page and, once validated, you will see your price list when you sign in.
Can I return an anchor?
Consumers have 14 calendar days to withdraw from the purchase, provided the product has not been installed or loaded and keeps its packaging and documentation. An anchor that has been installed or loaded cannot be returned to service and cannot be returned. More details under shipping and returns.
Do you manufacture to order or to drawing?
We manufacture in Spain with laser cutting and CNC bending, so we can study special brackets, bases for unusual structures and test specimens with custom loads. Tell us about your case.
